How we earn money

Internetprovider.se is a comparison and information site. It is not an internet provider and it does not sell a connection.

Some providers may pay a commission if you continue to their site through an affiliate link. That commission is paid by the provider. It does not change the published prices in SEK, contract length or advertised speed, and it does not change the price sort.

Affiliate links are stored separately from the price feed. If a plan has no tracking URL, the button opens the provider’s official page.

Tracking URLs are added when an affiliate relationship is confirmed. Until then, plan buttons open the provider’s official Swedish pages.

What “no fixed term” actually gives you

No contract internet in Sweden usually means the plan has no fixed binding period. You are not locked into a 12-month or 24-month commitment for that specific plan, which can be useful if you rent temporarily, expect to move, or want to test a provider before staying long term.

That does not mean every cost disappears. You may still have an activation fee, a router cost, a campaign price that rises later, or a notice period that you must follow when cancelling. Always read the order page and terms before you approve the purchase.

The most important distinction is between flexibility and price. A month to month internet Sweden plan can be easier to leave, but it may have a higher ongoing price than a longer deal. If you mainly want the lowest bill over a full year, compare the total cost rather than only the first monthly price.

Flexible fibre and mobile broadband options we found

Our research found flexible residential plans across both fibre and mobile broadband. Fibre is usually the more stable choice for a permanent home connection, especially if several people stream, work from home or game at the same time. If you already have a fibre socket, see how the technology works in our guide to fibre internet in Sweden.

Mobile broadband can be more convenient if you need a movable connection, do not have fibre at the address, or only need internet for a shorter stay. It uses the mobile network, so performance depends on coverage, signal strength, network load and the router or device you use. For a deeper explanation, compare the options in our mobile broadband Sweden guide.

Examples of flexible fibre plans include Bahnhof fibre plans from 10/10 Mbit/s up to 1000/1000 Mbit/s with published monthly prices and no activation fee stated in the plan information. Telia fibre plans include 100/100, 250/250, 500/500 and 1000/1000 Mbit/s options with no activation fee stated for those plans.

There are also campaign-based flexible fibre offers. For example, Boxer fibre plans in the reviewed range show lower monthly prices for the first 12 months, then a higher monthly price from month 13, plus an activation fee. Tele2 fibre plans in the reviewed range also show a first-year price, a later price from month 13 and an activation fee.

For mobile broadband, Hallon has flexible mobile broadband plans with data amounts from 5 GB to unlimited and campaign prices that rise from month 3. Comviq has flexible unlimited mobile broadband plans with stated maximum download levels in the plan information and no activation fee stated. Availability and actual speed still need to be checked for the address where you will use the connection.

Advertised speed, data and the limits of flexibility

For fibre, the advertised speed is often written as download/upload, such as 250/250 Mbit/s or 1000/1000 Mbit/s. That tells you the product tier, not a personal guarantee that every device in your home will always reach that number over Wi-Fi. Your router, home layout and connected devices still matter.

For mobile broadband, the speed may be shown as a maximum download level, such as 60, 100, 150 or 1000 Mbit/s down in the reviewed plans. Mobile speeds are more variable than fibre because they depend on radio conditions and network load. If stable video calls or low latency gaming matter, test carefully before relying on mobile broadband as your main home connection.

Data allowances also differ. Some mobile broadband plans are published with 5 GB, 15 GB, 20 GB, 40 GB, 70 GB, 100 GB or 200 GB, while others are marked unlimited. Fibre plan data is often not stated in the published plan details, so you should confirm whether any fair-use terms, traffic management or other limits apply before ordering.

If you are unsure what speed tier is enough, start with your use rather than the largest number. A small household browsing, streaming and taking video calls may not need gigabit fibre. Our guide to internet speed in Sweden explains how to match speed to everyday use.

A practical cost check before choosing

A flexible plan can look cheaper because the first monthly price is low, but the setup fee and later price matter. Work out the total for the period you realistically expect to keep the service. For short stays, a one-off activation fee can have a bigger impact than it first appears.

For example, a Boxer 100/100 Mbit/s fibre plan at 379 SEK per month for the first 12 months, then 649 SEK from month 13, with a 299 SEK activation fee, totals 4,847 SEK over 12 months. Over 18 months, the same published prices total 8,741 SEK. The monthly price you see first is therefore not the same as the average cost if you stay after the campaign period.

A Tele2 250/250 Mbit/s fibre plan at 629 SEK per month for 12 months, then 669 SEK from month 13, with a 399 SEK activation fee, totals 7,947 SEK over 12 months and 11,961 SEK over 18 months. A Telia 250/250 Mbit/s fibre plan at 649 SEK per month with no activation fee stated totals 7,788 SEK over 12 months and 11,682 SEK over 18 months.

Mobile broadband can have a different cost shape. A Hallon unlimited mobile broadband plan with a 199 SEK campaign price and 399 SEK from month 3 totals 4,388 SEK over 12 months before any unverified activation or router cost. A Comviq unlimited mobile broadband plan at 399 SEK per month with no activation fee stated totals 4,788 SEK over 12 months.

These examples are not a ranking. They show why you should compare the first-year total, the price after the campaign, any activation fee and any router cost together. If price is your main concern, our guide to cheap internet in Sweden can help you weigh monthly fees against other costs.

When a longer binding period may be the better deal

A no fixed-term plan is not automatically better. If you own your home, know you will stay for at least a year, and want the lowest predictable monthly cost, a 12-month offer may be worth comparing. Longer commitments can sometimes include different campaign pricing, hardware terms or setup conditions.

The key is to compare like with like. Put the flexible plan and the fixed-term plan side by side for the same speed tier, technology and expected use period. Include setup, router, delivery and the price after any introductory period.

Do not choose a fixed term only because the first price looks lower. If you may move, if your landlord controls the fibre connection, or if you are not sure the mobile signal is good indoors, flexibility can be worth paying for. You can compare wider residential options through our home internet in Sweden guide.

How Internetprovider.se handles flexible plan comparisons

Internetprovider.se is an independent comparison and guide site, not an internet service provider. We focus on published residential plan information such as technology, advertised speed, monthly price, later price, activation fee and whether the plan is presented without a fixed binding period.

Some provider links may be commercial links. That does not change the need to check the provider’s own order page, because prices, campaigns and address availability can change. You can read more about our commercial model in how Internetprovider.se earns money.

If you want to compare broader options beyond flexible plans, start with our Swedish home internet comparison. For this guide, the important point is simple: flexibility should be compared as part of total cost, not treated as a free advantage.

Sources and important notes

Prices, plan names, speeds, data allowances, activation fees and campaign periods can change. Availability depends on your exact address, and the provider’s order page and terms should be treated as the final source before purchase. Where a plan detail is not stated in the published information, you should confirm it directly with the provider.

Regulatory context: PTS – Post- och telestyrelsen is the Swedish authority for electronic communications. Internetprovider.se is not an internet service provider and does not guarantee coverage, approval or a particular speed at your address.

Without contract: short answers

Confirm the live offer at your address.

Can I get fibre internet without a contract in Sweden?

Yes, some fibre plans are published with no fixed binding period, including selected plans from providers such as Bahnhof, Telia, Boxer and Tele2. You still need to check availability at your exact address and confirm any activation fee, router cost and notice period before ordering.

Is mobile broadband better for month to month internet in Sweden?

Mobile broadband can be a strong month-to-month option if you need flexibility, a quick setup or internet you can move between places. It is less predictable than fibre because speed depends on signal and network load. Check the data allowance carefully, especially if you stream or work from home.

Does no fixed term mean I can cancel immediately?

Not always. No fixed term means the plan is not tied to a fixed binding period, but the provider may still apply a notice period or require you to return equipment. Confirm the cancellation rules before ordering, particularly if you only need internet for a short stay.

Why can a flexible plan cost more than a 12-month deal?

Flexibility reduces commitment, but it may come with a higher monthly price, an activation fee or fewer included extras. Campaign offers can also rise after the first months. Compare the total cost for the time you expect to stay, not just the first advertised monthly price.

What should expats check before choosing no contract internet?

Check whether the provider can supply your exact address, whether the order process accepts your details, and whether the plan has a notice period or equipment return rule. If you are in temporary housing, mobile broadband may be easier, but fibre is usually more stable where available.

Are unlimited mobile broadband plans really unlimited?

Some mobile broadband plans are published as unlimited, but you should still read the provider’s terms for fair-use conditions, traffic management and speed limits. Unlimited data does not guarantee a fixed speed, and indoor signal quality can make a large difference to real-world performance.
